Hypocrites. That’s what you are. All of you.
“Lagos is a gloried village,” said Nigeria’s minister for transports, Chibuike Amaechi in one of the audio recordings making rounds on social media. He said the city lacked basic infrastructure when compared to Abuja.
“tell me what else you have in Lagos? 1,000 plus megawatts. That’s all. That’s what you have. What else do you have? No water, there are no roads.” He went on.
Why do we pretend to be what we are not? None of the things said by Amaechi in the infamous recording is false. We all know this. Why are Nigerians so hypocritical?
I live in Lagos. I live in one of the city’s ‘best’ areas. A place which didn’t in any way meet the expectations I had prior to relocating. “Lekki is overrated” is an understatement.
The rainy season is an ideal time to look for an apartment in Lagos. Why? Most of the houses get waterlogged. Yes. I am not talking about roads now. No. I am talking about peoples’ houses. So, when you relocate to Lagos, you are advised to wait until after the dry season to start your hunt for an apartment. And the dirt. oh, the dirt in Lagos.
Sometimes I wonder, had Lagos been an Eastern State, would it see less dirt? Could the situation be cultural? I understand my argument could be coming from a place of prejudice. But you can’t blame me for having these thoughts. This city is a shanty dwelling.
But, I digress.
I expected to see/hear more constructive criticisms about the released audio recording. Like, how one of the people in governance, who allegedly left office as a state governor with a track record of embezzlement, could badmouth a country he joined forces to run down. Unashamedly speak ill of a president who he together with his cohorts forced down our throats. Instead, the internet is abuzz with how disloyal Amaechi had been to his principals; past and present.
Haven’t we totally and completely gone crazy on this side of the continent?
Reno Omokri is an attention seeker. He trended for two days on Twitter with his #AmaechiTape, so I guess he got what he set out to get.
In his tiny, petty head, I am sure he thinks he has done something huge. He may even feel he has made a difference in the world. But does he also know that exposing the ill feelings of Amaechi towards his principal doesn’t exactly distort Buhari’s campaign towards reelection? In a country where a huge percentage of the population is not crazy, it should. Sadly, that country is not Nigeria.
Who doesn’t know that Nigeria’s president has a problem with comprehension? Did we expect such person to be a voracious reader? How?
The way Reno’s Twitter rants have gone on is very irritating. I think we are currently in part3. We know you all are only playing politics, but seriously dude, you are clogging my social media space. Shut up already. Please.
And to think that ‘jobless Nigerians’ actually wait patiently as he dangles these tapes in front of them. Taunting them with the time of their release is shocking. By Jove! I give up on all of you.
Have you no respect for yourselves?
An average Nigerian Barely feeds. He has nothing left. No money. No savings. Who is able to save these days. Hello! You have got to make sure you are feeding well and clothing yourself first.
When it comes down to it, when you critically look it at, the only thing an average Nigerian actually has left is TIME. And you all prefer to waste it waiting for a senseless audio recording which actually does nothing to hurt the incumbent whom most of us desperately can’t wait to see out of office. C’mon! Do better.
